Stephen F. Patricio - President

Stephen entered the produce industry after graduating from the University of Santa Clara with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was California certified as a public accountant (CPA) in 1976 and until 1992, served as the Chief Financial Officer of Tri Produce in the central San Joaquin Valley. Since 1993, Stephen has served as President of Westside Produce, a handler for independent cantaloupe growers in the Central Valley. Today, the firm has expanded to include growing, harvesting, cooling and marketing in California and Arizona.

Stephen is an alumnus of the California Agricultural Leadership Program (Class XIX), serves on the Western Growers Board of Directors, the California Melon Research Board, the California Canaloupe Advisory Board and the Food Safety Committee of the California Cantaloupe Advisory Committee.

In addition to his produce resume, Stephen is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Monrovia Nursery, the world's largest producer of container grown plants.

 

James E. Malanca - Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Jim entered the produce industry after graduating from California State University Fresno with a bachelor's degree in accounting. From 1978 until 1992, Jim served as Sales Manager for Tri Produce, coordinating produce sales for one of the world's largest growers and shippers of cantaloupes. In addition to his work for Tri Produce, Jim worked as a consultant for Del Monte, assisting in the development of its off-shore marketing program.

Since 1993, Jim has served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Westside Produce. He is responsible for overseeing the day to day sales of cantaloupe and honeydew melons grown, harvested and commercial cooled in California and Arizona.

 

S. Garrett Patricio - Vice President of Operations, General Counsel

Garrett joined Westside Produce in 2005 after two years in the Tax Mergers and Acquisitions practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in San Francisco. He is a graduate of the University of San Diego and Santa Clara University School of Law. Garrett is a California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and licensed member of the State Bar of California.

Garrett is responsible for overseeing all operations and handles legal matters related to the company. In addition, he serves on the California Canaloupe Advisory Board and is a member of their Food Safety Committee.

 

Blake A. Patricio - Vice President of Finance

Blake joined Westside Produce in 2005 after two years in the audit practice and three years in the tax practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in San Jose. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University. Blake is a California Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Blake is responsible for overseeing all finance and accounting matters.

 

Salvador Alaniz - Director of Harvest & Quality Control

Following in the footsteps of his father, Eliseo (harvest manager for over 35 years), Salvador has been with Westside Produce for the past 15 years and managed the summer harvest for the past five. Salvador is an accounting graduate of California State University, Fresno. Salvador is responsible for overseeing the harvest operations of Westside Produce and serves as our chief consultant regarding timing of bloom, water application, fruit maturity and quality control.

 

Justin K. Porter - Director of Technology

Justin joined Westside Produce full-time in 2004 after two years of seasonal employment while finishing his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis. Now a graduate with degrees in Communication and Sociology-Organizational Studies, he is actively pursuing an MBA at Santa Clara University with concentrations in Finance and Food and Agribusiness.

Justin is responsible for implementing and troubleshooting all aspects of the Westside Produce technology program.

 

Susan A. Borrelli - Director of Administration

Susie has been with Westside Produce since its inception, but was a loyal TRI employee for several years prior. Her responsibilities span a wide range, including staff management, relationship management, human resources, and sales support.

 

 

Jorge Gonzales - Facility Supervisor

Jorge has been with Westside Produce since its inception, but was a loyal TRI employee for several years prior. He currently serves as supervisor of the Westside Produce facility, but wears many hats for the company. Jorge has over 30 years of experience in welding, planting, irrigation practices, electrical contracting, forklift maintenance, and cold storage operation.
